" CIEL" to be the tallest hotel in the world in the first half of 2024

The First Group is proud to announce that its flagship hotel, Ciel, remains on track for construction completion in 2024.

Set as the tallest hotel in the world, the 82-storey architectural marvel is the centrepiece of First Group's fast-growing portfolio of world-class hotels setting new industry benchmarks in the UAE.

From a design perspective, it is the largest and most complex development to date. The building itself encapsulates the power of integrated design, the multi-layered, simultaneous process required to create a complex superstructure.

The superstructure is 99% complete, with first and second mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) remedial works now 80% complete at the building’s basement, podium floor and floor levels.

The installation of the building's facade brackets has now been completed up to the 72nd floor, and the installation of the curtain wall is underway and has reached the 70th floor. At present, the installation of the conveying system has reached 53%, the fixing of the atrium steel truss has been completed, the tiling work has reached 66%, and the installation of wall partitions and plastering has been completed 97%.

“We are excited to bring Ciel to Dubai’s skyline, a groundbreaking project that will redefine luxury hospitality and showcase the best the city has to offer.

Despite the challenges presented by the pandemic, we have made great progress and are on track to officially open the property in 2024. Ciel will offer our guests an unparalleled experience with its unique design, luxurious amenities and stunning views. Ciel is more than just a building, it is a symbol of Dubai's ambition, innovation, creativity and excellence," said Rob Burns, CEO of First Group.

Designed in collaboration with First Group's long-term architectural partner, NORR Group, Ciel boasts a number of innovative features, including an observation deck on the 81st floor offering panoramic views of the Dubai skyline, Palm Jumeirah and the Arabian Gulf, as well as a rooftop infinity pool and bar on the 76th floor. Another standout feature is the hotel's 300-metre-high interior atrium, boasting vertically stacked landscaped and naturally ventilated terraces, providing residents with a shared, communal and interactive space.

Ultimately, Ciel's striking design reflects its landmark status as the world's tallest hotel. The design itself has been praised globally, with the hotel winning Best International Hotel Architecture, Best Hotel Architecture Arabia and Best Residential High-rise Architecture Arabia at the 2019 International Property Awards (IPA). Ciel also won top awards in four major categories at the 2019-2020 Dubai, Africa and Arabian Property Awards.
